Colonel (Retired) Jody L. Dew

Senior Army Instructor

COL Jody L. Dew was born in Conway, SC on 20 September

1967. He was educated at Latta High School. His post

secondary education was received from Francis Marion

University in Florence, SC where he was awarded a BA Degree
in History and Mass Communications. In addition, he has an
Associate and BSRT in Respiratory Therapy from Newberry
College, Newberry SC. He is a graduate of the USAWC (War
College) where he received his Master Degree in Strategic
Studies July 2009.

COL Dew joined South Carolina Army National Guard (AGR)

October 1990. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on

05 May 1990 through the Army ROTC program at Francis

Marion University.

He was branched as a Medical Service Officer and later branched to all Combat Service
Support branches (Logistics) as well as a Combat Arms Officer (Infantry). He was
assigned as a Health Service Material Officer with Company C (MED),163d Support
Battalion. He was promoted to First Lieutenant in May 1993 and then to Captain in July
1996. His Company grade assignments included Ambulance Platoon Leader of Company
C (MED) 163d Support Battalion, Company Commander of 251st Medical Company,
Transportation Officer of Headquarter, 163d Support Battalion, Company Commander of
Company A (S&T), 163d Support Battalion, BDE S3 Air Officer of Headquarters, 218th
Enhanced Separate Brigade (Mechanized), and BDE S3 of 218th Enhanced Separate
Brigade (Mechanized). In November 2001, COL Dew was promoted to Major and then to
Lieutenant Colonel in February 2006. He deployed to Iraq (OIF 09-11) as the Battalion
Commander of 751 CSSB in 2009-2010. Upon redeployment, COL Dew was the Deputy
J7, Mobilization Readiness Officer, Deputy G3. Promoted in 2013 to Colonel, COL Dew
was the Director of Logistics (G4/J4) from 2012-2015. In June of 2015, COL Dew was
re-assigned the Director of Military Support J3/7 to retirement 1 April 2016.

COL Dew's military education includes Army Airborne School, Air Assault School,

AMEDD-Officer Basic Course, NBC Course, AMEDD Officer Advance Course, Training

and Mobilization Management, TC Advance Course, SATS 4.1, CAS3, Officer-In-

Charge Course, Quartermasters Advance Course, Support Operation Course, Combat

Lifesaver, Infantry Captain Career Course, CGSC, BDE/BN Infantry Command Course,
M2A2 Leaders Course, USAWC (War College), CSS Command Course, and JTF
Commanders Training Course.

COL Dew’s awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service
Medal w/ 4 OLC, Army Commendation Medal w/2 OLC, Army Achievement Medal w/ 2
OLC, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Reserve
Component Achievement Medal, Army Service Medal, Air Assault Badge, Airborne Badge,
South Carolina Palmetto Service Ribbon, and the South Carolina Governor's Unit Citation.

COL(R) Dew is employed at Aynor High School South Carolina as the Senior Army
Instructor of JROTC. He is married to the former Wendy Nascimento. They have a son
Jonathan Blake, who is in Army, and twins Nicholas Reid and John Ryan.
